The Climate Feedback Loops
All the climate feedback loops already underway:
- Melting ice sheets and glaciers revealing dark water/ground -> more heat absorption -> more heating
- More wildfires -> more CO2 release -> more heating
- Biodiversity loss & higher temperatures -> less CO2 absorption -> more heating
- Permafrost thawing -> releasing CH4 -> more heating
- Higher temperature -> air can hold more water vapour -> less clouds -> less sunlight reflection -> more heating
- Higher evaporation -> more H20 in the atmosphere (water vapour is a GHG too) -> more heat trapping -> more heating
- Cleaner shipping fuels and less burning coal -> less aerosols -> less clouds -> more heating
- Ocean acidification -> less CO2 absorption -> more heating
We still believe globally-co-ordinated pricing of GHGs is the most efficient, socially just and economically beneficial way to reduce climate emissions, fast.
